This week we start our long-awaited building and strengthening project on our church hall. I love building projects because so often it allows people who are not normally involved in serving in the church to roll up their sleeves and get involved. Already we have seen a good number of people get involved on Saturday at our first working bee.
If, like me, you were not able to be involved or missed out yesterday, do not worry, as we plan to have more working bees over the coming weeks. The whole project should take about 2 months to complete.
We hope to do it for under $90 000. Our finance committee have been good stewards over the past few years and have ferreted away excess money and accessed some external funds to cover the costs.
May I encourage you to participate with the next working bee. This will help you get to know a different set of people in our church and give you an increased sense of ownership. I have no doubt when Nehemiah rallied the Israelites to rebuild the ruined walls of Jerusalem that their teamwork for God’s glory led to wonderful memories. As we work on this project together, I have no doubt we will not only have a lot of fun, but we will also make memories and new friends as we all work together to provide better facilities for our children and community.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to serve in a practical way. Nehemiah 10:39 “We will not neglect the house of our God.”
