Our Church

Spreading love, hope, and unity through the Church

Greenlane Presbyterian Church (GPC) is a Bible-based and family-oriented Christian church, incorporating people of all ages, cultures and walks of life. We place an emphasis on sound bible teaching at the heart of our worship services and home groups. Jesus Christ is the focus of our faith and worship. Mission is one of our top priorities.

We Believe

Our Beliefs

GPC belongs to the wider Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ) and as such its goals are:

  • To teach Christ as the only Saviour
  • To teach God’s Word (the Bible) in all its fullness and depth
  • To seek to reach lost men and women with the hope that they too will come to know the joy of being right with God
  • To try to identify peoples’ gifts and give them opportunity to serve God in and through the church
  • To try to reach out to our whole community with the love and compassion of Christ, showing the love and help Christ would give if He were here.

We believe the Bible to be God’s inspired word and all that is necessary for our faith and teaching. In addition to the Bible we have adopted nine documents that help crystallise the fundamentals of our faith as found in Scripture:

  • The Apostles Creed
  • The Nicene Creed (381)
  • The Westminster Confession (1646)
  • The Shorter Catechism (1647)
  • The Larger Catechism (1648)
  • The Barmen Declaration (1934)
  • The Faith we Affirm Together (1968)
  • A Simple Contemporary Statement of Faith (1969)
  • An Affirmation of Faith (1993)

These can be read on the PCANZ website

Youth Ministry

Igniting Faith, Impacting Lives

We understand that community and being part of a family or group is important. Here you are part of a church family that respects and supports each of our young people. Junior & Senior youth groups are groups that allow you to be yourself, a place where life and Jesus meets, a safe place. Games, music, food, and the Word and discussion.

Children's Ministry

Empowering Children to Shine

Kids Club is GPC’s Sunday morning children’s programme.  It is a fun and engaging teaching programme; with large group worship and teaching and followed by classroom crafts and activities.

There is something for each age group.

Creche is also open every Sunday morning.

How We can Help You

Parking: Parking is available at the church or across the road at the Public Trust building, and at Bridgestone (Great South Rd).

Children: We are a Kids Friendly church; we value our children and young people. They join us for the first part of the service, then move into a children’s programme for 3-13 year olds. A crèche is available for toddlers, and a vibrant youth church for those in high school.

Dress: We are an informal church, so come in comfortable clothing.

Style of Worship: We sing mostly contemporary songs with traditional hymns some weeks.

Bible: We use the NIV Bible, which is supplied for your use.

Coffee/tea: Free filter coffee, tea and snacks are available after the service.

Time: Church starts at 9.30am and finishes about 10.45am.
