This is a lovely time of the year, especially if you live close to Cornwall Park and enjoy the privilege of walking round the park some afternoons after work, as I do. The ornamental cherry trees are in full bloom with their lovely pink blossoms. The oak trees have fresh new leaves and the wisteria vines that grow over the walk ways are in blossom with their strong sweet scent. How beautiful God’s creation is!
As I enjoyed my afternoon walk yesterday, what really struck me was a meadow with lush green grass, shaded by Pohutakawa trees; and grazing on the lush grass were just a few sheep whose lambs were lying close by. It was a restful tranquil scene.
As I looked on what could have been a postcard photo of N.Z. my thoughts went immediately to Psalm 23 – “The Lord is my shepherd, He makes me to lie down in green pastures”
I was reminded that God is our great Shepherd, who provides all we need and He shields, protects and stands over us to protect and provide for us. As I looked on that peaceful scene my heart was moved to thank God for His care, love and provision for us as His flock, the sheep of His pasture.
We may not have all we want, but this I know, with God as our shepherd we will always have all we need
