It is hard to believe but Christmas is just over 3 weeks away!
As I have been reflecting on this year’s Christmas I am aware how little Christian content there is among all the commercial hype.
May I encourage you as parents and grandparents, to start reading the Christmas stories with the children in your home. Don’t take for granted that others will tell them the true message of Christmas. What about getting a children’s bible out with pictures for the younger ones and start working through the different aspects of the story. For the older ones, why not set aside readings from the Bible to read and talk about at table.
If we are not proactive in keeping the true message alive and in the forefront of our minds, we can’t complain if Christmas becomes more and more secular. Just last week there was talk going around in government circles, wanting to remove the word Christmas altogether and replacing it with family holiday season.
I believe Christmas gives us a unique opportunity to speak up and speak out about its true meaning. Let’s not pass up on this golden opportunity.
