From Ben – 18 December 2016

Sue and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a blessed and Christ-centred Christmas. For those of you who are travelling internationally or to some remote part of our beautiful country, we wish you safe travels and a wonderful time away.

As I reflect on this past year I do so with a sense of joy and gratitude. It has been a good year for our church. We have seen steady growth and the work among our youth and children has flourished. God has indeed blessed G.P.C. and it is a joy to serve in this Christian community.

I have noticed with concern a subtle shift taking place in our larger community with the insidious infiltration of the words “happy holidays” or “festive season” in place of “Happy Christmas” This is an indication of the relentless pressure of a secular society to squeeze Christ to the margins once again.

As Christians let us speak and sing of Christ, the reason for the season. Without Christ there would just not be Christmas. Let’s have him as centre of our celebrations.  Once again God bless you and your loved ones
