From Ben – 16 January 2022
This Sunday, as we gather for worship, I will be directing your thoughts to a wonderful Psalm – Psalm 34. It is a Psalm where David takes stock and resolves to praise God for His gracious provision. It is evident from the Psalm and particularly its back story, that David had been through a raft of trials, challenges, disappointments and hardships, yet he resolved to praise and thank His Lord, that through it all he was not forsaken or abandoned. David records this Psalm to remind future generations that despite the many challenges of life the Lord is faithful to deliver us from all our trails (v4-5) I sought the Lord and He delivered me from all my fears, those who look to Him are radiant, their faces are never covered with shame.
May I encourage you, as we stand at the threshold of a New Year with all its unknowns and challenges, to trust the Lord. Look in faith to Him. Believe He will do what is good and best. Do not focus unduly on the ongoing challenges of life, but trust in the Lord who is able to make a way for us and has promised us that He will be with us in all our troubles. I love the challenge David put down in this Psalm, “Taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.”
