I was surprised to read recently that there are about 245 million surveillance cameras installed worldwide, with the number increasing at about 15% per year. In addition, millions of people now take photos and videos of everything from parties to holidays, from sports events to crimes. Almost all of our lives are being documented and seen by others. There is just no more privacy or secrecy in our world.
Long before the surveillance camera or the smart phone, the bible tells us that God is watching every aspect of our lives. Ps 139 says God sees us at all times and even knows and hears what we say. This is good reason to be watchful and careful, knowing that we live our lives openly before him. On the other hand, it is also very comforting and reassuring to know that we are seen and heard and protected by God who seeks the best for us.
Nothing is hidden from God’s sight; nothing is greater than God’s love; nothing is stronger than God’ grace; nothing is too hard for God’s power.
