From Ben – 21 November 2021
It’s good news, really good news! This week the announcement has been made that there is every possibility of us returning to church and the joy of Christian worship again soon. As you may well know by now a traffic light system will be introduced with Auckland being in the red initially. That means that we can have 100 people with vaccine passports in our church building, hopefully from 5th December. Our church leaders have met on Zoom and decided that we continue to provide the online services for those who are hesitant about attending in person or do not have vaccine passports and will embrace the opportunity to worship with those who are vaccinated. That means after being away from corporate worship for about 120 days, we can be together again, though with some restrictions as determined by the Presbyterian denomination.
Our buildings are well suited for a healthy meeting environment as the air in the worship auditorium is not recycled, but spent air is extruded and fresh air is introduced through large vents near the front of the church. We will also keep windows open to allow fresh air to circulate in the halls.
This opportunity to gather once again is an answer to prayer. On many occasions I have prayed over our empty chairs, lounge and foyer, asking the Lord for the privilege of being together again. In the Psalms David says, “I was glad when they said to me, let us go up to the house of the Lord” I have no doubt that many of you will echo those words too. Will you pray with me for the safe return of our church family and children to Christian fellowship once again.
