From Ben – 21 May 2017
Today’s message is on a timely subject for us all as we all seem to be busier than ever before. I will be preaching on the call from Scripture to be heavenly minded, to have our hearts and minds and attention on heaven and the things of God.
As I come to work each day at the church I am confronted by all the rushing about of cars and people, everybody so busy, so engrossed in doing their job or running their business. Life has evidently become faster and more complex. God’s word to us cuts like a laser through the dust and mayhem of life, saying “Slow down!” “Look up!” There is more to life than work and money, food and deadlines. Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, said it is futile, a chasing after the wind.
Jesus, our Lord, said that there is more to life than things, what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul. Now I do not want to dismiss the importance of diligently supporting our families but I think the word of God today is calling us to keep a balance. Not to allow the world and its agenda to crowd out the things of God and our relationship with him. We all need to slow down, look up and invite the Lord to share our day with us. He who is too busy for God is just too busy.
