I read in the paper last week of a lady who woke to the screams of neighbours in the early hours of the morning. Her neighbour’s house was on fire and her 6 year old daughter was trapped in the house. Without any thought for her own safety, this lady ran around to the back of the house, climbed in an open window, fought through the smoke and found the little girl standing terrified in the passage. She called out to her, took her hand and led her out to safety;
As I reflected on her courage, concern and sacrifice, I said to myself, “that it how every Christian must respond to their neighbour at this time”. Let us go out of our way to do all we can to show the love and grace of Christ to those around us. It is in times of crisis that we can best portray the love of Christ.
