From Ben – 2 April 2017

It is hard to believe that we are in the month of April already and just 12 days from Easter. As our minds turn to Easter it is my prayer for you and myself that this Easter would be a time of spiritual renewal and refreshment. I am aware that my own spiritual life needs deepening and refreshing and constant renewal.

One aspect of this pre-Easter time that deserves our reflection is the story of the Last Supper in the Upper room. The disciples seemed oblivious to the fact that Jesus’ life was soon to be given up. They seemed to think that everything would continue as normal, when in fact Jesus’ death was just hours away.

One of the significant things that happened in those sacred hours around that meal is that he washed their feet. Little did they know that in doing so he was preparing them for the crucifixion and resurrection. What a beautiful picture we are left with, the Holy Son of God, with a basin and a towel, doing the task of the lowest servant. Once again, we see the profound lesson that in Jesus economy, the way we lead is as servants of each other and servants for the Lord.

This Easter join with me in asking the Lord to show you how best you can serve others, showing yourself to be his disciple.
