From Ben – 23 July 2017
In a recent church leaders’ meeting we had a discussion on the important of Bible reading and the need to increase the Bible knowledge of the people at our church. In a recent National survey by the Bible Society, it has emerged that 30% of New Zealanders over the age of 13 years, claim to be Christian. Of those, 3 in 5 own a Bible. The sad reality is that only 7% of these people read the Bible daily. I would hope that the figure in our church would be much higher than the 7%.
To help you get into daily Bible reading, if you are not committed to it already, I will be distributing a 6-month Bible reading plan that will start in August and run through until January 2018. Over this 6-month period we will be able to read through the entire N.T.
I encourage you to sign up to this worthy challenge; even if you already read God’s word and are committed to a program, why not add this challenge to what you already do? The reading program, with convenient tick box cards, is available free in the foyer.
Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 4:4 “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
