In a country like ours, we all enjoy many privileges that so many people around the world are deprived of. For those of us living on the periphery of Auckland city, we have easy access to parks, beaches, bush walks and enough shops to satisfy any shopaholic.

However, the greatest privilege we have is the privilege to worship God. We were created and saved to worship God. It is a privilege and honour to worship our Creator and Saviour. On the one hand, private worship at home or in some tranquil setting is a lovely thing to do but corporate worship with God’s people is what we love most.

Note Ps 149:1 Sing to the Lord a new song, His praise in the assembly of the saints.

It truly pleases God when we put aside the business of life and family for the worship of the Lord. As you give this worship a high priority in your life you will note that a new and harmonious balance starts to work its way into your heart. Let us be sure not to let the loudest voice get all our attention, rather put high on your priority list the privilege of worshipping God.

I am aware however, that although many of you would love to be back in corporate worship, it is not possible because of the Covid pandemic. I would encourage you to carve out time for private worship at your home as you are able. Worshipping God must be our priority and not only determined by whether we can be in church. I, like you, am really looking forward to the time when all these intrusions will be behind us and once again we can come together without fear in corporate family worship.

Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.
