Did you know that we speak about 1600 words a day, 112 000 a week, about 6 million a year, and about 480 million in a lifetime. Of all those words which word is the most beautiful? I think it is the word, grace.

Grace in a biblical sense means God’s rich love and forgiveness given to those who do not deserve it. We all need God’s grace. You can’t be saved without it, and you cannot earn it or purchase it. It only ever comes to us freely as a gift through trusting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. This grace is one of the most powerful forces in the world as it can totally change a person’s whole life and future. It reaches the hardest and most stubborn person transforming them to become a child of God.

The most important work that grace does is to change our standing from being under God’s condemnation to becoming a child of God. Grace also continues to work in the child of God, changing us to be more and more like Jesus. What is more, God’s grace is supplied in increasing measure to us, day by day, giving us strength to face the many challenges that life throws at us. God’s grace will always give us the power to remain true and faithful to the Lord. Although grace is the free gift of God to us, we can grow in grace once we have been welcomed into God’s family. You grow in grace by drinking from God’s fountain of grace found in his word, when you read and reflect on it, when you study it with others and respond to it as it challenges you.

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
