This Mother’s Days I want to take a moment to say a loud thank you to all the mothers in our church. You do an amazing job that is demanding, extensive and often goes unnoticed. I have been reminded of a mother’s service, love and commitment to her children yet again as I have watched my daughter and wife care for our recent grandson Jordan, now 1 week old. As I have seen my daughter care day and night for her newborn it has been a reminder to me of the time and devotion every mother gives to her children. I have also come to see that there is no time when a mother can say the job is done. Her children, even though they grow up, get married, hold down demanding jobs, always remain her children. What is more, there is the blessing of grandchildren, which gives mother a whole new way to show love and affection, to serve and to help.
It is impossible to conceive of a mother or a grandmother neglecting and forsaking her own children, that would just be so unnatural, yet the bible says and history has shown this does happen; but God has promised he will never forsake or abandon his children.
Is 49:15 Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!
