This past Friday I conducted the funeral of one of the longest standing members of our church, Mrs Kath Graham. Kath went home to be with the Lord after 96 years. Kath was a deeply committed Christian and the first lady elder of our church. She was fully involved in the life of our church and hosted a Bible study, prayer group for 12 years. The passage I used for her memorial service was taken from John 14. This is the passage where Jesus promises that in His Father’s house are many rooms and that He is going there to prepare a place for those who love Him.
As I prepared a devotion on this timeless passage that has brought hope and help to so many over the years, I realised once again how vitally important it is for all of us to be certain of our salvation. To be sure that our names are in God’s book of salvation and that heaven and the Father’s home is our final destiny.
Of what value is it to own a home in Greenlane, Penrose, Remuera, or North Shore and yet not have an investment in the eternal home in heaven.
In this same passage of John 14 Jesus makes it ever so clear that there is only one way, one truth, one path to heaven and that is by repentance and faith, trust and surrender to Him as your Lord and Saviour.
Friend are you certain you have real estate where it matters most, Heaven?
