In my private devotional reading this month I am working through the amazing book of Proverbs. Most of them were written by Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, although that is questionable as he had 1000 wives. However, as you read through his wise sayings, you see that he repeatedly lays down many great truths which are quoted and expanded in other parts of the bible.
In my journey so far I have seen that there is the repetition of the need to be humble, fear the Lord and listen to the wise counsel of God’s word. There is also a repeated call for honesty and integrity in all you do.
If it has been a while since you have read this amazing collection of wise sayings, why not set aside time to do so? What about reading 4-6 each day? I once had a businessman in a church I served in S.A. who put quotes from the book of Proverbs on the office wall for his employees to be incentivized to work with integrity.
God’s word is not meant just for reading and reflection, but for all of life and work. It may just be that new truths are ready to be discovered as you search God’s wisdom in the book of Proverbs.
