From Ben – 12 June 2022

It would seem that there are challenges and bad news coming at us from every direction. There is every reason to feel disillusioned and disheartened these days, if we do not maintain perspective and a Christian mindset. The economy, Covid, the war in Ukraine, and gun violence in our city, is sure to lead us into despondence and depression if our focus is on the news.

But thank the Lord, He is with us, and His word encourages us to trust in Him and find our rest, not in this world, but in Him. Over the years Christians living through the most challenging of times have always risen above their challenges and setbacks, finding rest and hope in the Lord.

I was reminded recently of one of God’s timeless promises that is so appropriate for times such as these. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.

Let us resolve as never before to trust, depend, cling to and rely daily on Him and His word, not trusting ourselves, our leaders, or society, but the Lord. Note He has not promised us a smooth path, but rather He will be with us to guide and lead us along our path. It is no foolish thing to trust a God who is able to meet our deepest need and has a proven track record of delivering those who look to Him

Ps 34:5 says – Those who look to Him are radiant, their faces are never covered with shame.
