From Ben – 14 June

By God’s grace and protection, we are back to normal after what can only be described as a remarkable effort by our team of 5 million. These events we have all lived through during these last months will be recorded in the history of N.Z. in time to come. We will tell our story of working together as a nation to the next generation, who sadly may have to shoulder the financial burden that was necessary to protect our jobs and economy. Let us however not let the financial fallout detract from what has been achieved by our nation in stopping this virus with the loss of only 22 lives nationwide.

It is time for us to take stock as we restart normal life. Let us not make the mistake of slipping back into old habits and practices. Let us not take up where we left off but rather start fresh. Let us consider how we can do better and make full use of our time. In the Robin Williams movie “Dead poets society” he starts off by saying to his students at a prestigious Ivy league college “Carpe Diem”, “seize the day.”  Make best use of the fresh start.

Are there possibly a few things you need to think through with regard to your spiritual habits – Your bible reading, prayer life, church attendance, service, giving, hospitality? How can you improve and sharpen your focus and be more intentional to grow to maturity in the Lord? How can you press into God more deliberately and turn away from compromise and capitulation to secular modernism?

The apostle Paul says in Phil 3:13 forgetting what is behind and striving towards what is ahead I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Seize the day!
