The Lord sometimes brings an idea or teaching to our minds by repeatedly drawing our attention to that subject through a variety of different avenues. It may be in a reading and then on a podcast or an article or in conversation with a friend or family member. I have learned to stop and take note when this happens because it is often the Lord drawing our attention to something He wants us to take note of.

This has recently happened to me. Over the last few days, The Lord has drawn my attention to the Holy Spirit through various passages of Scripture and a sermon I listened to this past Sunday night. I was struck once again at the wonderful work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Christian.
He is called the helper who sustains us.
He is called the counsellor who guides us.
He is called the teacher who instructs us.
He has promised to protect us from falling into temptations too tough for us to handle.
He also promises to give us the right words to say at the right time.
He is the One who gives us gifts to serve others.

As I read and listened to teaching on the Holy Spirit and His wide variety of work in the Christian, I found myself saying thank you Lord for not leaving us to try to work out our Christian lives in isolation, but You have promised us a helper, companion and friend.

I love the way Jesus puts it in John 14:18. I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you.
