From Ben – 8 March 2015

This morning in my Bible reading I read about Philip, who was sent by God from a busy, active church ministry to reach out to just one man on a busy desert road.

As I read the passage I was reminded that God is not impressed with big numbers, but every individual is valuable to him.

It also struck me that evangelism and sharing the gospel with others needs to be seen as using the opportunities God gives us. Philip was set up by God. He was able to help the foreigner who was reading the Bible but did not understand what that particular passage meant. He was in the right place at the right time and was ready to reach out as the opportunity opened before him.

It was my prayer that God give me eyes to see the opportunities that are before me today and that I have the courage to speak up at the right time.

I have learned how disastrous it can be to try to force a conversation and I have also seen how naturally it can all fit together if we are ready and available. As one person said, “God is not looking for great ability, but rather he is looking for availability”

I challenge you to be available, that God may use you where you are.
